Gardening Experience...

I have around 200 basil plants growing in different sizes of pots... me tanim din akong rosemary, peppermint, oregano, lettuce and small fry tomatoes... I've been doing this for the past sex (6) months... The crazy idea of planting basil started out when everytime i crave for pesto nawawalan sa shelves ng Santi's at Hypermart ng SM ng basil... tapos nagagalit ang sister ko sa akin dahil kinakalbo ko yung dalawa nyang halaman na basil which is about 3 feet tall already... dahil adik din ako sa pesto pasta and any recipe that has to do with basil... love the smell... love the taste... nag papaka cultured ka kunwari lang.

first things first... I read a lot of articles on the net about these plants and other articles on container gardening... mula sa mga gadgets/paraphernelia... i wanted to grow organic kasi fad... syempre nakakatulong ka daw kay Mader Earth and all those altruistic eklat motivation.... browsed all the sites i could click on while downloading pirated ebooks at comics...

and boom... bigla ko na lang narealize ko na gumastos na ako sa seeds, water hose... seeding trays... black soft pots... potting mixes... gloves... etchetera etchetera...

pag nagsisimula ka pala kabado ka dahil you're afraid dahil you might have a brown or black thumb... mamatay halaman ka.. a plant killer... never planted anything except a bananna tree at marijuana when i was in high school... hehehehe... luckily yung mga ninakaw kong mga seeds sa basil plant ng sister ko at yung binili kong lettuce and tomato seeds germinated... wow... sarap da feeling... feeling mo para kang god... to think napaka init ng balcony sa harap ng room ko...

next problem is fertilizer... just found out na dun sa katabing vacant lot ng bahay namin merong mga ipot ng paniki... bat dung... or guano... shit... natural na natural ang dating... basa uli ako sa internet ng benefits ng guano... ayun... nagwawalis ako tapos nilalagay ko sa paso... ang resulta maganda ang tubo... kaya lang seasonal lang ata ang pag stay ng mga bats sa tree na katabi nga house... wala na akong mawalis na guano... i called up my buddy who's into the production of organic fertilizers... aba binigyan ako ng 3 litters... libre...

at dumating na ang mga peste... mga red ants... mga worms... sabi ng friend ko yung mga worms daw na yun ay leaf folders... pag nakakita ka ng nagdikit na leaves.. siguradong may uod... kaya i have to cut them in half with my small pruning scissor... hehehehe... napaka sadista ko sa uod... grabe... tawag sa akin ng kapitbahay ko... MAMATAY UOD... gardening made me a murderer... yung mga red small ants... tolerable sana... kaya lang ang mga bwisit na yan... kaya pala kokonte lang ang nag ge germinate na lettuce ko... naabutan kong ninanakaw ang mga seeds sa seeding tray ko... ayun i sprayed them with hand washing soap and austerized siling labuyo... it was a massacre... grabe ang daming patay... parang wacko texas massacre...

lumaki na sila... mahirap mag dilig everyday.. mag fertilize everyweek... mag tanggal ng weeds every other day... maging murderer twice a day... at magpaka organic kuno in the next x number of days... pero ang pinaka rewarding ay yung unang harvest mo... wala pang dalawang cups yung mga initial 20 pot harvest ko... maraming olive oil at konteng dahon ang basil... used Happy peanuts instead of pine nuts... piso lang kasi isang packet ng Happy e... kunwari parmesan cheese ang natirang queso de bola nung pasko... Ewwwwww tsalap... you'll savor yung pag lamon mo sa kanya... dahil ang nilalamon mo ay tanim mo... wow... cultured ka pa kunwari dahil sosyal ako... pesto yan... more than 200 pesoses yan sa Itallianis, Plato Platina, Beninnis at a venetto... And it's fresh...
